About the 14″ CNC Mill System with Ball Screws. This machine is based on our 14″ 2000series mill. The 14″ mill base with ball screws comes with all new saddles developed for the ball screws. The X/Ymill saddle has been beefed up to accommodate the larger ball screws, and it has an electroless nickel/Teflon coating.
Please Note: The X2 Mill is the original MiniMill with the brushed DC motor. It should not be confused with the Super X2, Super X2L, Super X2LF or Super X2P HiTorque mills. Although we don''t stock a complete inventory of spare parts, we do normally carry the parts that you are likely to break or wear out.

Jan 25, 2019 · X axis ball screw installed in the mill. At this point I tested sliding the X table back and forth to check if it ches anywhere. I had to try a few times and keep grinding until it moved freely. I also ended up milling a little slot into the yaxis to allow the ball nut to sit flush.

Ball screws are the best choice for CNC appliions and acme screws are the best choice for manual machines for the reason Ryobiguy gave. If you don''t have a servo or stepper motor to hold the screw position it can easily move due to the low resistance. I have a manual knee mill with acme screws and a CNC knee mill with ball screws.

Instalation involves tapping 7 qty 1/4x20 holes and one 1 inch hole that needs to be bored thru the head of the mini mill. The only thing not provided in the kit is the ball screw, ball nut for the z axis and the motors, controllers etc.
